California Or Bust: April 2015 (Part 1)

For Christmas, Nate gave me tickets to California for Easter.  So on April Fools we boarded a plane across the country - and only lost one suitcase along the way!  With the suitcase set to be delivered by 11pm, we left the airport for Grammy and Bimpy's.
We stopped by the Calabasas Commons to see the turtles.

The next day, we went to the Reagan Library.  Laura and Gavin had a blast "talking" to the President on the "phones."

We also went to Cheeseboro Canyon for an afternoon hike.  Our friend, Wily Coyote, escorted us!
Wednesday morning, we went to the Getty Center and saw 0.00001% of the amazing collections on view.  We saw 100% of the gorgeous views, and Gavin fell in love with the "pumpkins" which were really cool cacti on one of the rooftops.

Wednesday afternoon, Bimpy met us at the Skirball Center for Noah's Ark.  If you have kids and are in LA, this is an absolute MUST DO two hour event.  The experience starts with a telling of the Noah's Ark story, which Paul was hilariously into!  You are then led into a Noah's Ark art space with found objects turned into fabulous animals.  AND THEN you get to the Ark.  An enormous play space filled with two of every animal - all made from found objects.  We used every minute of our two hours to play!  I would absolutely go back every LA visit - it was so cool!

After Noah's Ark, we headed back for some rides in Bimpy's fancy car.

More to come...

March 2015

Following Paul's Wild first birthday, March was pretty quiet!  Paul continues to be my little work buddy on my at-home days.

Gavin and Laura both wore kilts (that were mine as a child) to school on St. Patrick's Day.

We spent the day at Port Discovery and got to try jousting!

And we got some new hats.

Wild Thing Turns ONE!

We celebrated Paul's 1st birthday with a "Where the Wild Things Are" themed brunch.  Paul dressed the part of Max, while his big sister and brother gleefully rumpused through the day.  Paul is so loved by us all - he is the happiest baby, always ready with a smile!  At one year old, Paul is walking, babbling, clapping and climbing up stairs (but not down).  Paul weighs about 22 pounds, as of his one-year check-up in March, and is completely healthy.  He loves, loves, LOVES all food, and eats large quantities throughout the day.  He also transitioned very easily to cows milk from formula, and drinks at least three large bottles of milk a day.  He's our little Wild Thing, and we love him!
